Overview

A stable home is a stable education

A scholarship can cover fees, but if a household's income collapses mid-term, a child is often the first one pulled out of school to help. Our Community & Livelihoods programme works directly with caregivers and guardians — through village savings groups, entrepreneurship training and social-inclusion initiatives — to strengthen household income at its source.

We see this as education work just as much as scholarships are: a family with a stable income is a family that can keep a child in school through the ups and downs of a school year.

Our process

How a livelihoods group grows

1

Community Mapping

We work with local leaders to identify households facing the greatest economic strain.

2

Group Formation

Caregivers and guardians are organised into village savings and micro-loan groups.

3

Skills & Seed Support

Entrepreneurship training and modest seed funding help members start or grow a small business.

4

Growth & Reinvestment

Groups continue independently, reinvesting savings and mentoring newer members.
